Let's face it. Planning a wedding is work. No matter how pared down and minimal your style, there are still decisions to be made. And if you’re anything like me, indecision runs rampant when it’s time to pull the trigger, especially when it comes to deciding on your wedding day “look”.  Do I wear my hair up or down? Which bridal belt most captures my personality? What is the difference between white and ivory anyway? Why is everything so expensive?

For the easy-going bride who wants to look effortlessly chic on her wedding day, but doesn’t want to break the bank, take a cue from the following 5 styling tips. They’re guaranteed to make you look (and feel!) chic, comfortable, and so on trend. Need proof? I photographed and directed a styled shoot to show the potential of using all 5 tips in two knock out looks! Here we go:

Make styling decisions easier by using a monochromatic color scheme.  Choose shades of one color to stay cohesive throughout wardrobe, makeup, and florals. Our favorite hues to use are blush and white/ivory since they are oh so versatile and look great in any season!

Btw, aren't those bouquets to die for?? My girl, Amy, of Berry Blossom Flowers, turned it out and created these beautiful, lush pieces of art.

BRAIDS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND.  For budget conscious brides or those eloping and needing to style their own hair, braided up-dos are both easy and chic!  They provide great volume and texture without being fussy. Pro Tip: To ensure your up-do stays in place all day, spray your bobby pins with dry shampoo first! This provides grip and prevents them from slipping.

Real Life Tip: It was drizzling throughout the day of this photo shoot and the braids didn't budge an inch! So, if you're an adventurous gal who plans on eloping with her love to an outdoor location, this look is for you.

Forgo an expensive bouquet for a floral crown instead.  They are more cost effective yet still make a statement! Added bonus: You can’t misplace it throughout the day!

Hire a florist to make your crown or DIY! There are so many great tutorials out there that are easy and fun. Get your bridesmaids together for a fun day of making floral crowns and quality time with the gals... WIN WIN!

Take a cue from French bridal trends and stay casual and chic with  s e p a r a t e s!  Brides who want their wedding ensemble to be wearable after the ceremony can mix and match pieces for a one of a kind look. A floor length tulle skirt paired with a cashmere sweater? You will be both comfortable AND beautiful. (The blush, cashmere sweater in this shoot was purchased for a steal at TJMaxx!)  Are you getting married in scorching summer months? A silk camisole and tea length skirt will have you looking straight out of an Audrey Hepburn film.

Tres chic!

Most importantly, don’t be afraid to DO YOU. How you look on your wedding day is extremely personal so wear what makes you feel beautiful, confident, and like the best version of yourself! And this advice isn't just for your look, but also translates to your wedding day as a whole.

Whether you want your nuptials to be a private elopement, an intimate ceremony with your nearest and dearest, or a formal occasion with everyone you know, stay true to yourself and confident in your convictions. Your wedding should, above all else, center on you and your beloved and be a reflection of your love for one another.
