Allie & Justin's Stylish and Casual Winter New Orleans Engagement | Ace Hotel
New Orleans in the winter is magical to me. It's cold, with wind whipping around the buildings that rise above you like sturdy trees...people bustling from place to place trying to escape the bracing chill. Hotel bars and lounges are filled to the brim with locals and tourists alike, with hot drinks in hand. It's communal, cozy and overflowing with life.
Allie reached out to me for their engagement photos a few months ago at the suggestion of her friend Dayana, whose darling French Quarter Beloved Session I blogged a while back(go check it out here!) and I immediately got excited. Dayana is a beautiful human being and any friend of hers is a friend of mine.
Needless to say, Allie and I became fast friends over email and definitely cemented that fact when we met for their session at the Ace Hotel and hugged and screamed and laughed like we had known each other for years. Sometimes people come into your life like they were always supposed to be there and everything just immediately shifts and embraces them like a bear hug. Allie and Justin are both kindred spirits in my life now and their love definitely makes my universe brighter.
Can you tell I love these human beings by the gross amount of gushing? Yes, I am a huge sap.
We had a fantastic afternoon together on one of the coldest days of the year but seriously, our communal joy and excitement kept everyone warm. It goes to show that bad weather doesn't ruin a photo session. We explored the hotel roof, I got stuck in an elevator(go figure), and we walked around the Warehouse District stopping every so often for Allie and Justin to do something cute and for me to gush behind the camera. We ended the session after an hour of outdoor portraits with some cozy shots in their hotel room with casual styling of warm socks and old sweatshirts. I honestly didn't want to leave them when all was said and done but feel so #blessed that they came my way.
Allie and Justin, y'all are the bestest.
