Natalie & Dwight | A Whimsical, Backyard Wedding in a Bespoke Treehouse | Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Kiss me down by the broken tree house
Swing me, upon its hanging tire
Bring, bring, bring your flowered hat
We'll take the trail marked on your father's map

Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift your open hand
Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance
Silvermoon's sparkling
So kiss me

Yes, Natalie and Dwight’s wedding makes me hum Sixpence None the Richer and feel a wash of nostalgia for my childhood. Playing in forts and tree houses built by friend’s dads, bathing ourselves in dirt and running barefoot through grassy fields until the fireflies came out and showed us our way back home.

Those warm, familiar feelings are exactly what Natalie and Dwight wanted to convey to family and friends with the whimsical backyard wedding they held under the most gorgeous focal point…a treehouse built by hand by Dwight’s father. Natalie immediately expressed how special the treehouse was to their family and we knew we had to make the most of it. This was where she got ready, put on her wedding dress, watched her family and friends gather at the bottom awaiting her arrival, and finally walked down the spiral staircase to meet her groom.

They wed under the tree that held the magnificent treehouse above them and promptly danced the night away underneath the twinkle lights and chandeliers hanging from the tree’s limbs. It was truly a magical sight to behold and reiterated in my heart that these unique, family centric weddings are what my soul yearns for.
