Julia & Ryan's Whirlwind New Orleans Wedding(Including Beignets at Cafe du Monde!)

I adore when an inquiry hits my inbox and makes me excited beyond belief - which is definitely what happened when Julia emailed me about her dreams of a New Orleans elopement with her fiancΓ© Ryan and their immediate family. She asked me to take the reigns and help her plan a fun day of sightseeing, activities and all of the portraits along the way documenting the most amazing day of their lives. I screamed a resounding YES and over the course of a year we concocted the perfect afternoon to both get Julia and Ryan married and celebrate exactly the way they envisioned.

Our day started at Hotel Royal where Julia and Ryan planned for some traditional portraits of the family getting ready, exchanging gifts and everyone witnessing the first look(which was super sweet and included Julia surprising Ryan with a custom sign of her new last name). I love that even though this wedding day was unlike any other I had previously experienced, traditional elements were still incorporated.

After leaving the hotel, the rest of the day was a whirlwind with portraits at the New Orleans Botanical Gardens, a snack of beignets at Cafe du Monde, enjoying Jackson Square for family formals followed by their ceremony back at Hotel Royal. After cake and copious amounts of champagne, Julia an Ryan started their own second line to Hotel Monteleone for drinks and dancing. My favorite part of the evening though? When we stopped in front of Cafe Amelie for their first dance courtesy of a local street musician. That’s the definition of New Orleans and exactly why I love this city so much.

To sum it up? Julia and Ryan planned a wedding day based entirely around what was important to them and didn’t have to compromise on anything. Are you wanting a similar experience? Email me and I’ll be more than happy to help you plan!
