Justin & Annie's Degas House Courtyard Wedding and Capulet Reception | New Orleans Wedding Photography

In New Orleans, there’s a time of year right between Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest that we consider DEEP wedding season. Weekends are filled with brightly colored florals, outdoor celebrations and happy couples tying the knot all over the city. Justin and Annie had their gorgeous, vibrant and happy celebration right in the middle of this whirlwind. A multi location day featuring all of the best New Orleans has to offer, their nuptials are such a wonderful example of what a modern, romantic and lively party can look like for your NOLA wedding.

the first look

location: Residence Inn

While Justin and Annie had a full day of wedding coverage and two shooters(highly recommend!), they opted to skip getting ready photos and jump right into a first look which I LOVED. We started with energy and feelings high and their hotel room had the perfect balcony for us to utilize. PRO TIP: When searching for your getting ready venue, keep in mind how the room and surrounding spaces will photograph. Are there large windows with lots of light, a balcony or large common spaces for us to use? How will it look within the rest of your wedding gallery?

portraits at City Park

Following a quick first look at the hotel, we traveled to City Park to accomplish all of the wedding party and family photographs prior to the ceremony. The park provided so much open, green space and the covered Peristyle was a wonderful option of family to gather for our formals.

the ceremony at DEGAS HOUSE

The lush, green, outdoor vibe kept going throughout the ceremony space at Degas House, a historic house hotel located on Esplanade Avenue where Edgar Degas lived and worked in 1872. A perfect backdrop for Justin and Annie’s courtyard ceremony and following second line, guests were welcomed with cocktails and personalized guestbook to sign for the happy couple.

the reception at CAPULET

The greenery was brought inside to complete the verdant design at the beautiful and industrial Capulet, located in the Bywater neighborhood. Guests were welcomed in for a rooftop cocktail hour followed by a dimly lit reception space that encouraged a more intimate and familiar vibe. After speeches, dancing, cake, a macaron tower and ice cream station rounded off the perfect evening.
